Student Leadership

We  consider it valuable for our students to be able to lead, both themselves and others. This may involve them leading those younger or their peers, whether it be in cultural, sporting, school service or academic activity. We want them to learn about leadership and develop their own style.

Some examples of the roles that students are involved in are:

  • Leading  our weekly Assembly
  • IT masters
  • House Captains
  • Bus monitors
  • Sports captains/referees
  • Peer mediators
  • Supporting teachers and students in their classrooms

Taking part, being competitive, joining in and leading by example are positive expectations of our students that help them grow in to responsible, confident young adolescents.

“What is striking about ex Puketapu School students is the comfortable way that I see them approach High School with a friendly and confident manner. In a changing world with increasing demands for flexibility, collaboration and creativity, the confident nature that Puketapu School encourages is key to success. Socially able, well rounded students, well prepared for the challenges of High School and beyond”.  Neil Wood - High School Teacher
